We’ve made arrangements with 3rd parties for our content to be supplied in the event that Coherent becomes insolvent or otherwise unable to deliver. These arrangement are constrained by:

• Copyright: some 3rd parties are unable to grant us copyright for preservation.

• Costs: 3rd party services charge by the size of the collection and how quickly it changes. In some cases our collections are so large, and they change so quickly (thousands of new documents per day), it makes the costs of traditional library preservation storage prohibitive.

For traditional database we have arrangements with PORTICO. For other collections we’ve made arrangements with a 3rd party legal firm that will supply access to our collections in the event of Coherent Digital’s insolvency.
