Coherent Digital Names Andrea Eastman-Mullins Chief Executive Officer

September 14, 2026—Alexandria, VA—Coherent Digital today announced that Andrea Eastman-Mullins will succeed Stephen Rhind-Tutt as Chief Executive Officer. Rhind-Tutt will continue with the company as Chair and Publisher.

Since its founding in 2018, Coherent Digital has grown from a startup focused on preserving and disseminating underrepresented research and policy content into a growing provider of real-world knowledge, research impact, and information trust services. Under Rhind-Tutt’s leadership, the company has developed more than 80 databases, grown to more than 40 staff, completed multiple acquisitions, and established itself as a leader in preserving, tracking, and amplifying knowledge created outside traditional publishing channels.

Eastman-Mullins brings 30 years of experience in digital publishing, higher education, educational technology, product strategy, and organizational leadership. She has worked closely with many of the institutions and communities Coherent Digital serves and has helped organizations navigate periods of growth and change. Most recently, she led Clarivate’s teaching and learning portfolio and helped establish the foundation for a new AI-enabled learning business. Earlier in her career, she was part of the leadership team that grew Alexander Street Press into a globally recognized digital publisher before its acquisition by ProQuest.

Eastman-Mullins and Rhind-Tutt have worked together at Chadwyck-Healey, Alexander Street Press, and ProQuest for more than two decades, giving the transition a foundation of shared history, trust, and continuity. The appointment comes as Coherent Digital enters a new phase of growth, requiring the operational leadership and organizational focus needed to scale the business and support its continued maturity.

Coherent Digital’s growth reflects an important shift in the knowledge landscape. Books and journals remain essential, but many questions in public policy, education, health, climate, economic development, and social change are also informed by research and information created outside traditional publishing channels. Coherent Digital helps preserve this knowledge and make it easier to discover, evaluate, and use.

Its next chapter will focus on helping users and institutions determine what information can be trusted. Through initiatives such as TrustMarc, Coherent Digital is developing infrastructure that brings greater transparency, accountability, and confidence to an increasingly complex information environment.

"Coherent Digital has reached an important point in its development,” said Rhind-Tutt. “We have grown significantly, expanded the range of knowledge we support, and begun developing new services focused on trust. Andrea understands our market, shares our commitment to the company’s mission, and knows how to build organizations for sustainable growth. I am pleased that she will lead Coherent Digital into its next chapter."
"For most of my career, I have worked to bring valuable knowledge into clearer view and make it more useful for learning and research,” said Eastman-Mullins. “Coherent Digital has built an extraordinary foundation in this area. Joining Coherent Digital is meaningful to me not only because of the mission, but because of the people and the history behind it. Stephen and I have built together before, and I am excited to work with the team, our customers, and our partners to help Coherent expand the reach and impact of this work."

As CEO, Eastman-Mullins will lead the company’s strategy, operations, product direction, commercial execution, and organizational development. Rhind-Tutt will focus on innovation, partnerships, acquisitions, industry engagement, and major initiatives, including TrustMarc.
