What is COUNTER?

Project COUNTER is an industry initiative that provides guidelines for the measurement, creation, and distribution of online usage reports to institutional subscribers. See projectcounter.org for more information. We're fully compliant with the COUNTER Code of Practice for E-Resources Release 5.

What is SUSHI?

SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative) is an API that allows libraries to automate the retrieval of statistics from each vendor that supplies content to the library. Most large vendors support SUSHI. Many university libraries provide access to thousands of databases that may be from 100 or more providers, and SUSHI takes away much of the tedium of getting a monthly, quarterly, or annual report from each one of those vendors. One of the design benefits of COUNTER is the ability to combine reports from multiple vendors into a single view — SUSHI harvesting tools help with that process.

How do I set up COUNTER reports via SUSHI?

Follow this three-step process for obtaining COUNTER reports via SUSHI:

1. Let Coherent Digital know you'd like to enable your SUSHI credentials by reaching out to support@coherentdigital.net.
2. Our support team will enable your SUSHI credentials, then share those credentials with you.
3. Configure the credentials into your SUSHI harvesting tool. Selected reports will now be included in your results.
