The Iran Society of India, based in Kolkata (Calcutta), aims to promote Iranian culture, foster Indo-Iranian cultural relationships, and serve as a center for intellectual collaboration between India and Iran.
The Society has published for more than eighty years, with a focus on the cultural, historical, and linguistic ties between India and Iran. The Society publishes a journal, Indo-Iranica; books on Indo-Persian studies; publications on specific aspects of Iranian culture, history, and literature; proceedings of various meetings and lectures; language education resources; and other content.
To create The Iran Society Archive, we've digitized every item for which rights are confirmed, and we continue to work to clear additional rights.
The distinguishing highlight of The Iran Society Archive is the full run of Indo-Iranica—all 360 issues published from 1946 through the current issue, digitized for the first time. The journal covers ancient history, archaeology, epigraphy, and comparative literature, significant for both scholarly work and diplomatic relations.

As part of our preservation mission, we've pledged to digitize new archives for the South Asia Commons platform. We allocate a portion of our sales revenues to this work—when a library purchases South Asia History and Culture, it contributes to the effort. The Iran Society Archive is our first digitization project in fulfilment of that pledge.
