SUSHI (Standardized Usage Statistics Harvesting Initiative) is an API that allows libraries to automate the retrieval of statistics from each vendor that supplies content to the library. Most large vendors support SUSHI. Many university libraries provide access to thousands of databases that may be from a 100 or more providers. SUSHI takes away much of the tedium of getting a monthly, quarterly, or annual report from each one of the vendors. One of the design benefits of COUNTER is the ability to combine reports from multiple vendors into a single view. SUSHI harvesting tools help with that process.
